My Story
I am a father and husband and I have been vegan since 2017.
As a family, we decided to go vegan after our youngest son suffered from severe eczema at a young age - to the point where it covered his whole body! It would often bleed and he would frequently cry from the discomfort. We tried all the suggestions that doctors offered us, such as creams, more breathable clothing etc, but these were only short term fixes.
My wife and I began to research and found that dairy has a strong connection to eczema and decided to cut out dairy completely from our family’s diet. It instantly cleared up our son’s eczema and this is where our vegan journey began - to look into the connection between the food that we eat and our family’s long-term health.
We as a family started our vegan journey purely from a health stand point, but over time it has developed into so much more - animal welfare, environmental etc.
Over the years I have noticed the misconception behind males and the vegan community - males need to eat steak, protein, you’re not manly eating just plants etc. This is why I begun THAT VEGAN DAD - to change this image!
My idea behind That Vegan Dad is to show EVERYONE that adopting a vegan lifestyle can be easy and highly accessible for just about anyone!
I have created a YouTube channel to highlight vegan food taste tests, our family grocery hauls and more. My Instagram shows our family’s everyday life and some amazing food that I create or find at the supermarket and restaurants! And finally, my website is a collection of all of the above, but much easier to access.
My passion for trying to connect more people with veganism has also since expanded to begin a vegan-friendly Hamper business, delivering vegan friendly and gluten free hampers across Australia. You can check out Herbivore Hampers here
